The question that has tormented mankind since the beginning consists of only one three-lettered word...WHY?
Why has this happened? Why hasn't that happened? Why can't this be different? Why, why, why, why, why, why, why????
The first thing to realize is that why is not a great question. As one of my beloved teachers pointed out to me long ago, "Why is the booby prize." In other words...it's a question that leads to an invaluable reward.
So, what would be a better question...? What about "HOW?" More specifically, how did I create this? Because you did create everything you are experiencing in your life right now. The problem is that you probably have no idea HOW you created it!
A few years ago one of my clients came in who I had not seen in a while. When I asked her how she had been, she replied that her husband of 14 years had just left her. My response was, "How did you get him to do that?"
As you can imagine, at first she was shocked, angry, maybe even a little hurt. But when she looked in my eyes and saw my total love and acceptance of her, she was able to take the question in and give it a closer look. Over the next few months of meditating on that question, she discovered all sorts of ways that she had sabotaged herself in her marriage. She also decided on new behaviors she would use to create closeness in her relationships.
A few months after her amicable divorce from her husband, she met a wonderful man with similar goals, dreams, and vision for the future. They are now busily co-creating their heaven on earth together.
Do you think that divorce happened to her? NO! It happened for her, so that she could learn and grow and remember that she is the creator. And it was up to her if she wanted to create her own happiness, or her own heartbreaking saga of whoa. She chose happiness.
This is the deal...we are the children of God, made in the very same likeness...peaceful, joyous, loving, enlightened, at one with all that is. That is our birthright. It is who we are. It is what we came from, and that which we will eventually return to. So how aligned are you right now to each of these on a scale of 1 (the lowest) to 5 (the highest):
As you can see from the picture, when I did this myself my contentment level was 3.2. I recognized immediately that I created it for myself by NOT creating my ideal writing environment. So I lit a candle, put on some beautiful music, sprayed essential oils around the room, and grounded myself with a blend. Immediately my dogs relaxed and quietly laid down to rest, my neck and shoulders softened, my heart lightened, and I just caught myself smiling.
I created that!
And when I wasn't being mindful, I created an experience for myself that was less than perfect contentment.
You see, the one thing God gave us is free will. You can use it to create your own heaven, or your own hell. This week I suggest you get clear about how you will go about creating your heaven. It's time to stop reacting to the insanity outside you, and instead proactively move towards the sanity within. The gentle voice of God is there to lead you, but you must be willing to listen and follow it's direction.
Wishing you a week full of miracles,
One of the biggest questions I hear from people when it comes to our spiritual practice is this:
"Where do I begin???" And the answer is simple...right exactly where you are right now! You don't have any pre-requisites. All you need is the desire to be living a more peaceful, joyous, loving, and enlightened life. The rest is EASY!
Just like with everything in life, when you are beginning your spiritual practice you want to make note of where you are right now and where you hope to be one year from now. That's your roadmap. Your spiritual practice will be your vehicle.
The one question that awakened me to my spiritual path was, "How is your relationship with God?"
First I had to figure out what "God" meant to me. That was the beginning of my very beautiful, and deeply personal journey into my spiritual awakening. You see I couldn't just believe what I had been told or taught to believe by others. I had to figure out what my truth was...and once I figured that out, I had to decide how I wanted to live my life as an expression of my truth.
Things that I have personally found to be incredibly helpful on my path are meditation, reading A Course in Miracles, and journaling my thoughts & feelings to share with God every day.
Over the 30 years since I was first asked about my relationship with God, I have created a completely heavenly relationship with my Source. It has been fun and miraculous for the most part, yet frustrating and overwhelming at times, but I wouldn't change any of it. You see...it's what makes life here on planet earth so awesome.
So if you are ready to move forward on your spiritual path with me, please let me know what you hope to improve on this year in the comments below...
With love & light,
We are all here to experience our Self as the Creator...I mean why else would we have left heaven to come here, right? So I guess the real question is:
What have you been creating???
Looking around the world you can very clearly see that some people have been creating their own hell. They might call it cancer, or addiction, or being broke, or unemployed, or by some other name, but it is all a form of suffering.
You can also see those who are actively creating their own heaven. They might call it health, or living their purpose, or abundance, or passion, or some other name, but it is all a form of celebrating.
There is really only one difference between these two groups of people, and it boils down to who they believe they are. The first group believe they are human beings, while the second believe they are spiritual beings.
Human beings are reactionary by nature. Their belief is in the body, which is impermanent, so each moment they are living in fear of death. Because they spend most of their time in fear, they feel that they must protect themselves, that they can't trust anyone, and that they must take care of me, Me, ME!!!
Spiritual beings are proactive by nature. Their belief is in the Spirit, which is eternal, so each moment they are living out their love of life. Because they spend most of their time loving others, they always feel protected, that they can trust in the goodness of others, and that the only things worth doing are those that benefit all concerned.
As we prepare to move into a new year, it is the perfect time to ponder who you want to BE in the year 2016. Since you are the only YOU that will ever be, I suggest you BE You at 100%! Create ways to get out in the world and share your love and knowledge. Remember...you are absolutely essential to God's plan.
If 2016 was to be your final year as this incarnation, what is the legacy you would like to create and leave behind for others...? Please share in the comments below.

A couple of weeks ago I found myself with laryngitis. There was no pain, no other symptoms, but my voice had vanished. As a student of A Course in Miracles, I know that the physical is only an illusion anyway so I began to look for deeper meaning.
Since I couldn't speak, that meant I could not teach or see my clients for consultations, which gave me many hours to sit down with my journal and write. Through those writings I began to recognize how my ego had me trapped in the illusion that without my voice I could not be valuable to people...as if "my voice" has any significance whatsoever. My voice is in fact meaningless. It is what I am using my voice for that has meaning.
As I listened to God's guidance I began to realize how blessed I am to have these conversations. They always lift me, help me to see possibilities, and support me in fulfilling my purpose. And that is why I love being a teacher and healer...because that is what I do with others. I allow myself to be a vessel for God to speak through to His children.
In every relationship we are either consciously listening for His Voice, or unconsciously listening to our own ego. Every time we communicate we are either consciously letting God use us as a communication tool for His loving wisdom, or we are unconsciously letting the ego take the reigns.
This week I suggest you begin to listen for His Voice. You may hear it in meditation, a piece of music, on a breeze, a bird's song, a loved one's voice, or an enemy's words...the opportunities are limitless.
If you hear words of judgement and criticism, know it is your ego you are choosing to hear. When you hear words of love and acceptance, you will know God's Voice.
Wishing you blessings upon blessings,
